The Vagabond

I'm Elizabeth, but most know me as "Fiz". It’s a nickname I got as a toddler because I’m bubbly, and it stuck.

I do sales and marketing for The Collegiate Marketing Group, a company focusing mainly on College Spring Break and High School Senior Trips.  I graduated from Hallmark Institute of Photography and have freelanced for 8 years.  Not only do I take, develop, and edit awesome photographs, I’ve made a few awesome birthday cakes. In cakes, I specialize in Hello Kitty and the Beatles, because all you need is love and some icing. In addition to cakes, I love making costumes, and have once been reprimanded for wearing a leopard costume to a bar. It wasn’t Halloween.

I take my life sort of seriously and my work very seriously, because I want to change the world by bringing beauty into other people’s lives. I love all things creative, all things art, and all things life. That’s why I made this blog for you — so you can join me in my life adventures — and maybe get a taste of the beauty I see all around me.

Here's a little Q & A transcript from an interview to help you get to know me better:

Q. What is your favorite city?

A. Hands down, Austin, Texas. I honestly couldn't tell you one thing I don't love about the city. Besides the fact it's rated the #1 city for young professionals and is the live music capital of the world, it's a lively, unique, green city with a lot of character. You can honestly be whoever you want and no one will judge you. I could go on for days...

Q. What is the coolest place you have done a shoot?

A. It’s hard to pick the coolest place, but one place I really liked was Panama City, Florida. I photographed some surfers early in the morning there, and was able to capture them in some of their most serene moments. I edited the photos to highlight the colors of the ocean and the sky, to reflect how they saw and felt the water from out there. They loved the shots, and others told me they felt moved by them too. I have done shoots in lots of other cool places, and some not-so-cool places which still produced great photos. I am usually up for anything, as long as I have my cowboy boots.

Q. Aside from baking cakes, what do you like to do when you're not working?

A. I volunteer. I like working with children, because if you can inspire a child to want to be happy, or to care about others, or to tune into their own passions, you have a greater chance at changing the world.

Q. What are your 5 favorite items in your house?

A. Oh boy this is tough. Sewing machine, keyboard, guitar, Jessica Simpson leopard stilettos, glue gun and of course my oven. I know, that's 6 but I love them all.

Q. Name one guilty pleasure.

A. Dancing around in my stilettos to Beyonce. And Facebook.

Q. That's two.

A. I like to go above and beyond.
